SATELLITE (2010) REVIEWS

POWERPLAY
(May 2010)
Panic Room - ‘Satellite’ - (9/10)
“It’s been almost two years since we had the
debut ‘Visionary Position’ from Panic Room and I remember being very impressed with that album, so can these guys and gal dispel all those myths about that ‘that second album’?
You bet they can."
CLASSIC ROCK MAGAZINE
(April 2010)
Panic Room - ‘Satellite’ - (8/10)
“Glorious stuff...
culminating with the sprawling
power balladry of the title track."
FIREWORKS
(Mar/Apr 2010)
Panic Room - ‘Satellite’
“A magical sonic quality...
Powerful... Emotional... Stunning... Tremendous.
It’s a phenomenal second album and makes me wonder just what the members of Panic Room will have up their sleeves for us next time around. An essential purchase for everybody who likes quality melodic rock, presented by a female voice and transcending precise genre categorisation."

Panic Room - ‘Satellite’
“Strident... majestic... impassioned...
one can only hope that Satellite and Panic Room themselves get the justice that they both truly deserve."
THE MUSICIAN
(Summer 2010)
Journal of the Musician’s Union
“Powerful, edgy rock from this Swansea five piece, who step into the limelight
with their commercially-focused sound.
Anthemic drums and bass... potent guitar parts...
outstanding vocals... Vibrant, forward-looking rock.
Panic Room possesses the attributes to crash the mainstream party."
'R2' ROCK'N'REEL MAGAZINE
(March/April 2010)
‘Satellite’ - ****
“Their twin strengths lie in the consummate musicianship of the band and the silky-smooth, confidingly intimate vocals of Anne-Marie Helder.
Heartbreakingly beautiful...
Captivating... Anthemic."
EXPOSE
(January 2010)
US Magazine
”Outstanding vocals and playing. Dramatic and intense, without succumbing to gratuitous complexities that would take the focus off the band’s compositional strengths and Helder’s commanding vocal presence...
All taken, Satellite is an outstanding
second step for Panic Room"

'Classic Rock Presents Prog'
"Black Noise rocks, allowing the incisive guitar playing of Paul Davies to remind everyone that he’s possibly one of the most emotive six-stringers this side of Steve Rothery...
As for the ever-impressive Anne-Marie Helder, she commands the bigger stage like it was second nature.
An absolute star, her presence allows the rest of the band to indulge their instrumentation, whilst the soaring Satellite is a timely reminder that Panic Room deserve bigger and better things."
THE PEEL, LONDON
(Dec 2009)
'Classic Rock Presents Prog' (Malcolm Dome)
"There are bands who have a sense of balance that’s so natural you’re convinced these are the sort of people who’ll make a piece of string slung across the Niagara Falls appear as wide as the Severn Bridge. Panic Room are one of these rare species."
THE PEEL, LONDON
(April 2009)
'Classic Rock' Magazine
"...This was an impressive showing, which ever way you look at it. One of the remarkable things about the band is the space Edwards allows his band members. One might expect a keyboard player to swamp the overall sound, but Edwards’ is a more subtle touch.
In this space while Vaughan and drummer Gavin Griffiths hold down a solid beat, guitarist Paul Davies shines, peeling off metallic riffs and stabbing out razor-sharp solos, his nimble guitar work helping redefine the sound.
Yet if the chaps construct the soundscapes, the delivery is nailed by Helder’s sensuously perfect performance. Her impassioned, note-perfect vocal work is the icing on a very illustrious cake... spine-tingling.
I know we’ve all heard the “they deserve to be huge” plaudits a million times over. This time that sentiment is simply spot on."

(June/July 2008, Gary Marshall)
"I got in from work late, was beyond knackered and there was little time to get to the venue. Consequently, I very nearly didn't bother to get the car out and make the short journey to take in this gig. However, I am glad that I did, because this turned out to be something rather special.
The band perform superbly (and with great humour), but their focal point, Anne-Marie Helder, is nothing short of a star.
She has the most incredible voice and versatility, one moment bringing to mind Kate Bush, then Joni Mitchell, Carole King and even Alanis Morissette, which all goes to make for a mesmerising performance.
The word ethereal is possibly overused by reviewers, but in this instance I think it entirely appropriate, as Anne-Marie's voice transports you to another place.
This was a splendid show by a fabulous band..."
